I am Heidi M’Butu. I was born on September 11th, 1959. In 1976 I found the love of my life and, together, we gave life to four wonderful kids, now already adults. How time flies! Currently we are expecting our 7th grandchild and are amazed, how every child is different, but they all are World-Changers.
My whole life I have loved to read, to travel, poppies and the beauty of colors. For 18 years I lived, with my family, in the Caribbean – and loved the vibrant life, beautiful people, tasty food.
I still have the sweet taste of Haitian and Dominican Mango’s in my mouth, feel the warm, soft breeze of the wind caressing my skin and remember the colorful flowers of Hispaniola, the sweet smiles of the people, even in hardship. I will not forget the perseverance that I saw, wherever I traveled.
Those experiences had a huge impact on my life and made me into who I am today. Since 2007 I am living back in Germany – my Heimat (Heimat is the German word for “home” but in a much more profound sense) – where I found a way, to express all the colors I experienced, through my art.
